The Gay Village
Montreal is renowned for being a gay-friendly place, noted to be the largest Gay Village in North America. Vibrant and rich with nightclubs, stripclubs and bars, the Gay Village has it all, from restaurants to terrasses, and a wide range of shops. Not to mention the most popular Gay events in the world, such as the annual Gay Parade, Black and Blue, which bring in millions of people from all around the world.
The Village has grown and made it through politics and protests, and has flourished. The community has had victories never thought possible, and now stretches along St Catherine street, from Berri to de Lormier, and from Rene-Levesque to Sherbrooke street. Replete with restaurants, bars, boutiques, and cafes, Montreal now promotes this secteur of town proudly, and encourages people of all backgrounds to visit.
